Keynote Session

Media, Social Media & Governance

SESSION OVERVIEW

Indian media – print, television, radio, and digital versions – is growing by leaps and bounds. Yet, there is a credibility crisis facing the fourth pillar of democracy. The common man is increasingly seen to be disillusioned with the shrill debates in private television studios.

Meanwhile mainstream media is under pressure to adjust to social media and the new media consumer who comes through the smartphone.

Another revolutionary change that is coming about is the way government is using social media to connect with people. Twitter and Facebook have become the tools of governance for the Prime Minister and union ministers, chief ministers & ministers in states and municipal authorities.
