Agile Transformation is the process of transforming an organization's culture and nature to agility. Transformation is about a fundamental change in the way people think and feel. Agile is best described as an umbrella of values and principles and under it are many different sets of frameworks that help an organization achieve agility. Agility is the goal while Scrum, Lean, Kanban or any other type of framework is often the "how". Agile transformation does not mean prescribing to a methodology. While undertaking agile transformation, many times organizations would like to know what is the RoI (Return on Investment) of our agile transformation. Hence, this panel topic focuses on the factors that may be identified for the computation of RoI for the agile transformation of an enterprise.
The agile enterprise refers to an organization that uses the key principles of complex adaptive systems (CAS) and complexity science in achieving success. The agile enterprise is able to quickly adapt itself to the changing market environment and the business conditions. The American Psychological Association (APA) describes millennials as those who are born between the years 1981 and 1996. By 2025, Millennials, also known as Gen Y or those born in the 80's and 90's will make up the majority of the workforce". These millennials and other people form part of the complex adaptive systems in an agile enterprise and this panel topic focuses on how the People function or the Human Resources (HR) role utilize their HR policies to guide and lead the millennial tech generation in agile enterprises.
Organizational culture is defined as the underlying beliefs, assumptions, values and the ways of interacting that contribute to the unique social and psychological environment of an organization. It is a system of shared mores, values, and beliefs which governs how people behave in an organization. These shared values have a strong influence on the people in the organization and it dictates how they dress, act and perform their jobs. DevOps (development and operations) is an enterprise software development phrase used to indicate a type of agile relationship between development and IT operations. The goal of DevOps is to change and improve the relationship by advocating better communication and collaboration between these two business units. In other words, how Dev and Ops can collaborate and work together to reduce the release cycle time, improve quality, reduce delays and bring the highest value to the customer. Hence, this panel topic focuses on how the influence of the organizational culture will impact the DevOps implementation in the enterprise.
Enterprise agile transformation focused on not just expanding or scaling agile practices "up and out" from development teams to all areas of an organization, but it is also a massive change that impacts an organization's strategy and culture. Business agility refers to the " ability of a business system to rapidly respond to change by adapting its initial stable configuration". At a generic level, adopting agile is about forming teams, building backlogs and regularly producing working tested product increments while transformation is about systematically removing barriers to making that happen and if it is applied to the whole enterprise, we have an enterprise agile transformation. Entrepreneurial mindset refers to a specific state of mind which focuses on human conduct towards entrepreneurial activities and outcomes. Individuals with entrepreneurial mindsets are often drawn to opportunities, innovation and new value creation. The entrepreneurial mindset is about a certain way of thinking - it is about the way in which you approach challenges and mistakes. It is about an inherent need to improve your skillset and to try and try again. But why is this important? It is important because the entrepreneurial mindset is what you need to propel yourself and your business forward. Being willing to take risks and accept failure is a unique skill that isn't relevant solely in the business world. Incorporating an entrepreneurial mindset into your everyday life will help you to minimize the importance of failure and rejection in your life. In turn, this will help you to better run your business and contribute toward business agility. Thus, this panel topic focuses on the impact of entrepreneurial mindset on the agile transformation of an enterprise and how it may contribute to business agility.
